Cloud computing is the delivery of IT services over a network connection from remotely located servers, usually virtualised and located in a datacenter.

Private is use by a single user/organisation, public is use by multiple users/organisations, hybrid is multiple clouds acting as one often with one being local and the others remote and heterogeneous is where physical, none virtualised, servers are involved in the delivery of the overall service. VSphere 4.x, Xen 4.x and KVM 84 & higher are currently supported. Additional hypervisor support will be available in Q4 2011.

Any storage which is supported by the hypervisor can be managed by the software.

Both Cisco and Juniper switches and firewalls are supported for automated network provisioning. The modular design of the application allows additional types to be added and for them to be customised for a particular customer deployment.

The MyWorld software requires a 64bit Linux server, which may be either physical or virtual.
